. . . Well for a nerd like me it really is! I received my first Loot Crate yesterday and it is epic!
Monthly Subscription based boxes are not anything new, but they have been gaining a much higher following now and days. Most of the ones I hear about at work are beauty based and while that is awesome, I wasn’t really interested. So low and behold one of my fellow photographers introduced me to Loot Crate. A nerd based monthly subscription that contain amazing gifts at an affordable price.
The really awesome thing is they vow never to have the same item twice and the months are always a different theme. For example, this month’s theme was versus :
Here is a screenshot from their website:
They also offer different options so you can choose the crate that peeks your interest 😀
Here is my March Crate 😀
I was so excited! I love that T-shirt! and my fiance has already claimed the Batman vs Superman wallet and the Dardevil vs Punisher Hat. But I suppose that is okay 😀
The Hat is amazing, depending upon your mood you can be team DareDevil or Team Punisher 😀 I was feeling both of them last night 😀
I am so excited for April’s Crate! The theme is Quest! And Holy Shit Harry Potter and my favorite movie of all time Labyrinth is being featured. Dance Magic Dance!
Don’t Have Loot Crate?
Here you go and save $5 😀

I have always had a love for mythology. I am especially fond of Nyx, the Goddess of the Night or Nox as she is also known. I have had this idea for years to create a cosplay for her. But I just haven’t had the drive or energy. However, now with the new house almost squared away and my very own craft room, I have no more excuses and I have been itching to get creating and sewing again!
So facts about Nyx are pretty few and far between. I found a lot of sites somewhat depicting her, but this Wikia has probably all of that information rolled into one paragraph.
Nyx was described as a churning figure of ash and smoke, as big as the Athena Parthenos statue (which was 40 feet tall), but very much alive. Her dress was void black, mixed with the colors of a space nebula, as if galaxies were being born in her bodice. Her face was hard to see except for the pinpoints of her eyes, which shone like quasars. When her wings beat, waves of darkness rolled over the cliffs. She rode in on a chariot that was made out of Stygian Iron pulled by two massive horses that were black except for their silver fangs. Their legs floated in the abyss turning from solid to smoke as they moved. –Riordan Percy Jackson and the Olympians
So here are some of my concepts for creating her outfit.

Since the ability to draw was gifted to my baby sister, when I concept, I use scrap fabric on my mannequin so I can visualize my idea 😀
This is the first idea that came to mind, but I am trying out different tops with a flowy chiffon skirt.
Do you have any ideas on how I should approach this goddess’ cosplay?

So I have seen the WE DO GEEK signs everywhere! I love them. While my fiance is a huge gamer and anime/manga lover he isn’t always to keen on “geeking up” our new home. I have been allowed a hobbits eating schedule and a Zelda picture for over the keys, so I am trying to add geek in a simple way and I think this sign is awesome.
I couldn’t find one on Etsy that I really loved, some elements to me were missing, so on to photoshop I go. I added a bit of Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, DBZ, transformation sequence ( a nod to my favorite magical girl mangas :D), and Hocus Pocus.
I downloaded all the fonts from Dafont.com. I love this site and the creators of each amazing font. My poster is just for personal use and not for sale, but i thought I would share it with you because I love how it turned out!
Let Me know what you think 😀
What is your favorite We Do Geek Sign? Or how would you create one?
By now we’re all well aware that guys can make cute girls, but can a girl make a badass guy?
