Concepting: Greek Goddess Nyx

I have always had a love for mythology. I am especially fond of Nyx, the Goddess of the Night or Nox as she is also known. I have had this idea for years to create a cosplay for her. But I just haven’t had the drive or energy. However, now with the new house almost squared away and my very own craft room, I have no more excuses and I have been itching to get creating and sewing again!

So facts about Nyx are pretty few and far between. I found a lot of sites somewhat depicting her, but this Wikia has probably all of that information rolled into one paragraph.

Nyx was described as a churning figure of ash and smoke, as big as the Athena Parthenos statue (which was 40 feet tall), but very much alive. Her dress was void black, mixed with the colors of a space nebula, as if galaxies were being born in her bodice. Her face was hard to see except for the pinpoints of her eyes, which shone like quasars. When her wings beat, waves of darkness rolled over the cliffs. She rode in on a chariot that was made out of Stygian Iron pulled by two massive horses that were black except for their silver fangs. Their legs floated in the abyss turning from solid to smoke as they moved. –Riordan Percy Jackson and the Olympians

So here are some of my concepts for creating her outfit.

Since the ability to draw was gifted to my baby sister, when I concept, I use scrap fabric on my mannequin so I can visualize my idea 😀

This is the first idea that came to mind, but I am trying out different tops with a flowy chiffon skirt.

Do you have any ideas on how I should approach this goddess’ cosplay?
