Hohoho! Looks like there are some more new limited edition collection from one of our dear Korean beauty brand – Missha. Let’s just jump right in and have a look shall we?
As everyone who cosplays knows, to get that flawless anime look, is not only a process to put on but also a pain to get off. Because of this, I am always searching for a great makeup remover.
I was always very hesitant when it came to cleansing oils. I always had this mindset of I already have oily skin, why would I put more oil on my skin? Won’t it break me out? So I avoided cleansing oils like the plague. But then my MUA and models started talking about how amazing cleansing oils are and I read a ton of blog posts about how beneficial double cleansing really is. So I took the plunge and checked blogs and reviews for the best Cleansing Oil I could find. I discovered Shu Uemura and I didn’t want to take the plunge just yet, so I found small sample sizes on eBay ( I double checked the seller and all to make sure it wasn’t a fake) and fell in love with these oils!
The trial size lasted a good month, with everyday use. You really need only a tiny bit for your whole face 😀 My mother got me the Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime beauty cleansing oil for christmas and I absolutely love it! The 150 ml bottle lasted me just about 6 months with daily use. I will admit the cost is a bit steep at $42 a bottle, but it lasts long and works wonderfully.
Since it is summer, which means a much more shiny complexion for me, I decided to purchase the Shu Uemura Anti/oxi skin refining cleansing oil instead of the Ultime8. I tested out the Anti/Oxi and my skin looked and felt wonderful!
These cleansing oils really remove even the most stubborn of waterproof eyeliner and mascara. While leaving my skin soft and supple. It has also lessened my break outs and my Dermatologist gave me compliments on how amazing my skin looked 😀
I was also excited because they include a handy “how to use” handout which is also located on their site on how to effectively use the cleansing oils:
This is my favorite beauty splurge and it’s worth the money!

The base for a flawless anime look lays within your foundation and your best techniques.
Through all of high school and college my HG foundation was Maybelline Dream Liquid Moose foundation. It gave me a flawless complexion. Unfortunately, it is true that as you age your skin changes, and just two years after college my skin seemed to change over night. Even after having no problems before, the first time I used my HG foundation, my skin reacted horribly 😦
So the hunt was on, and in some instances still is. I have combination skin, oily t-zone and dry patches. I get redness around my nose, cheeks and chin. Once a month I lovingly enjoy a nice cluster of painful zits along my cheekbones. I have also discovered that I need an oil free foundation.
I tested quite a few foundations for my cosplay kit, and many made my skin look worse or just didn’t give me what I wanted. For example Mac, MUFE, and Tarte didn’t work well for me 😦
However, after spending some time in Sephora, I found the Sephora Collection Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation. The Sephora Airbrush Foundation has been considered an amazing dupe for the Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation. I love this foundation for cosplay! It is a bit messy, but once you get the hang of it, it made my skin matte and flawless! It is also build-able without looking cakey, and lasted through an entire con day, which was a huge plus for me 😀 Oh, and it is oil free, has no Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates.
For application, make sure you shake the can well. I usually spray the foundation directly onto my stippling brush and apply it quickly and in sections starting at the center of my face and working my way outwards. It drys quickly, which can be a double edged sword, after I apply, I use a damp beauty blender and blend.
While, this foundation is really amazing, I am still on the hunt for other amazing cosplay foundations and I am still on the hunt for an amazing concealer :3
What foundation, foundation techniques, and concealer do you recommend for a flawless canvas?

So last week, I posted a beauty hack on how to store fake eyelashes. Well this week, I found an awesome “How to” guide on applying them!
In cosplay, eyelashes can really help make that “anime look” we are all going for. I remember sitting in front of the mirror and practicing for an hour, just to get the routine right. Unfortunately, some days they look perfect and other days well they end up lash less and in the trash.
Anyway, I love this guide! One of the biggest pains when it comes to fake eyelashes, can be that gap between the fake lash and real lash line, well this guide gives a handy tip, so you aren’t fussing with them too much 😀
Here is a photo of me wearing a pair 😀
You Can Find the Full Guide Here —> How to Apply Fake Eyelashes
and while you are at it, poke around Beautylish‘s community pages. There are some awesome photos, reviews, tips and tricks there!
I could not tell you how many fake eyelashes I have lost, but it’s a pretty penny. So I was looking through one of my favorite beauty sites and came across this awesome storage DIY. It is as simple as using a bead box!
This is an amazing idea. I can even label them according to the cosplay they are for! It also makes it easier to carry them around. If one gets lost you already have a back up pair with you. Absolutely Genius! Another cool thing is a lot of these compartments can be customized so you can store the glue and tools in there as well.
Are there any great DIY storage ideas you use?
I love videos like this, when creative expressions and the current events of those times are reflected in art or in this case the beauty of those time periods.
Also I love the 1950’s Look 😀
Oh and that ending, take a selfie and add some “Duck Lips”

When it comes to cosplaying, the amount of products you can use on your face to achieve that flawless anime look, can take a pretty good toll on your actual skin.
The hunt to find those great products, to keep that blank canvas of yours clean and healthy is unnerving! I have used so many low to high end products and nothing has worked! So lately, I have been looking for more natural ways to keep my skin feeling clean, clear, and moisturized.
So I went on a Pinterest Hunt for some of the best DIY facial moisturizers and I came across beauty blogger Lisa Pullano and her DIY Day and Night creams. Through those creams, I came to discover and understand the benefits of Rosehip Seed Oil and Evening Primrose oil.
I am in love with these oils and with rose water. I have oily/combo skin, a bit of redness on my nose and cheeks, horrible blackheads and whiteheads (that no amount of facials could help, they only created more) and a bit of acne. So for the last week, I have been taking evening primrose oil capsules once daily and applying the oil to my face twice. Once in the morning and for night-time, I mix Rosehip oil with the Evening Primrose for an extra boost. After a week of using them, my skin is looking amazing! My acne is diminishing, the horrible whiteheads on my cheeks are almost all gone, my blackheads are clearing out and the redness has toned down. I have also noticed a difference in how less oily my skin is and it has also helped the dry patches! I am so amazed and so excited!

Have you tested them out? Did they work for your skin type?
Okay, don’t let the category fool you, this is not a makeup tutorial but more of a post about makeup. So working with some of the most amazing makeup artists here in Philly is awesome! It’s actually really interesting to see just which products each MUA uses day to day. I have noticed that the products range from Chanel to Nyx to MUFE to Maybelline to my favorite Koh Gen Do. Today, it got me thinking of my cosplay stash of makeup at home, and the HG items I still need.
I am always looking for a concealer to give me that flawless anime look. I also have redness on my cheeks, nose and chin, that I am always trying to cover. So since the Kim K craze of Ben Nye’s Banana Powder, I have been giving some thought into trying the Ben Nye Luxury powders.
The Ben Nye Luxury Powder comes in 4 colors:
Buff, Banana, Cameo, and Beige Suede
Since I have yellow undertones, slight bags and redness to hide. I will probably go with the banana powder to help cancel them out. I also want to try the buff, to see if that will work as more of a setting powder.
I will update once I order and test them out 😀
You can order them here —> Camera Ready Cosmetics
Has anyone used the Ben Nye Powders? Do you have any tips or tricks to get them to work really well?
